2014 Hooniverse Calendar

PostTue Sep 24, 2013 1:06 pm

It's getting to that time of year again - the new Hooniverse calendar will be available in a couple of short months, so the process to find calendar models begins now! We have a bunch of great prospects in the comments section of http://hooniverse.com/2013/09/04/hooniverse-asks-whats-the-best-car-pic-youve-ever-taken/ so what I'd like to do now is solicit more from our readers. I hope to have enough choices to do a tournament-style vote to see which 12 are the best at some point in late October.

Keep in mind a couple of guidelines for these photos:
1. Either the photo is your work or someone who you know that can give written permission to use
2. The photos are not from a restricted, private or otherwise corporate event that has written rules about photography and usage of such (examples include yearly new car expos, some events on private property, etc.)
3. If the car(s) depicted are not yours, please get permission from the owner of the vehicle
4. If you're submitting a pic of a car on a public street, that should be fine.
5. HIGH RES. As big as possible.

Those things being said, if you're iffy on whether or not something will work, and I will take a look. Faces and license plates can be photoshopped out - other legal gray areas may not.

We can't compensate you for these - only offer our undying gratitude for contributing to this awesome community. That and having your name on the back cover of the calendar. Oh, and please don't claim any pix that aren't yours or you don't have permission of the owner of the car. The last thing I'd like to happen is have this website get sued over something stupid like that.

So, here's some I snagged from the above posts' comments. If any are yours and you're okay with them potentially being used in the calendar, holler back so I can get your info and a high res copy if necessary.

Ray

Color me interested! As of now my best pictures are of cars that are not mine, and I have no way of contacting the owners. That being said I would love to contribute pictures of my car, I just need to do a photo shoot. What is your tentative deadline for submissions?

Edit: Sorry, I didn't read that close enough to see it's late October.

I've got the gold truck at the bottom of the first post, but I genuinely have no idea who actually owns the car. It was in a field in the middle of nowhere, I don't think there are any identifying features to get anyone in a legal kefuffle.

I do have something I could submit from a very similar angle otherwise, though the photo is significantly more brown due to time of year/location.

I wish I had taken better pictures of this Land Rover. Still, love the color, love the look.

I did a whole set with my old Comanche. I have full-res versions if you like them.

Also took a few of this old rusty farm truck at a wedding.

That's a good-looking Comanche.

Thanks Marcal! It ran and drove, but a lot needed fixing. The body, however, was near-perfect, which is rare on those rust-prone trucks. I sold it and bought a first-gen CRV.

I wish I'd seen this sooner. I'd love to have the F-100 shot in the calendar - I'll have to go hunting through my files to find the higher-res pic, though. She's a few years old. As for background/ownership - I saw this parked on the street in Toronto (College St in Little Italy, if there's any GTA'ers about). The googles are an amazing thing, though. A few GIS's and I think I've actually identified the owner in Langley, BC (though I may be wrong) - see here: http://www.roadkillcustoms.com/hot-rods ... id=152#152.

I probably have some others that may or may not be hoonworthy, so while I'm scouring my archives I'll keep an eye out.

Oh, and if it's cool, I'll just have to confirm that I'm licensing the image for use in the calendar and nothing else and that I retain the full copyright, yadda yadda. I've been meaning to print & sell some of my photography for a long while now, so I just want to make sure it's covered.
