So... who wants to buy a 2000 Civic Si?

PostWed Feb 27, 2013 4:52 pm

I'm starting to entertain the idea of parting with the Civic.

It's a 2000 Si with the ever-lovely B16A2 engine and a five-speed manual gearbox. Engine has 127k on it, and throws a check engine light for what I believe is a TPS issue.

Under hood: Intake & DC Header. CARB-legal sticker. Strut brace.

Stock exhaust though, so it actually sounds good - not farty.

Salvage title. It's been stolen and recovered. Both front airbags have blown. The face of the car needs work. I've swapped in a cheap removable steering wheel in the interim.

Fuel gauge needle snapped off, and there wasn't enough swearing to will it back into place.

Just starting to feel out if there's any interest, and I am doing so here on the Hoon forums first. I don't expect to get much for it, but it's not worth zero either. The motor has plenty of life, and the front end could be fixed up for less than $500.

Maybe Marto for his cross America journey?

That is actually a really funny idea.

If the check engine light issue were fixed, I'd say yes for sure.

How much are you looking to get for it?

I'd be tempted, but mostly as a parts rig to make a bit of a sleeper out of my '97 LX. I'd have to work out the cash, and I don't want to hack it up if someone wants the whole thing.

I honestly don't know yet. I know it's not a $5,000 car... but I think it's more than a $1,500 car at the same time.

Considering that the car cost you nothing to get, I'd take whatever you can get that will get it out the door so you can move on with your automotive life. Maybe you like haggling, but I don't. If I was in this place, I would just focus on sending it on its way.

I'd agree, but I plan on splitting whatever profits with the prior owner. He gave me the car, and I'm not just going to sell it and keep all the money.

I put a relatively minor amount of cash into the car, so I'll get some of that back.

Ahhh, that's a tough one. If you're in a rush, your 1500 is more likely to sell. If you can sit on the car for awhile, just post it up at the highest price you want and drop the price over time.

No real rush because we can most likely garage it back at his place for a bit. I'm bringing up the subject with him tomorrow when we go stock up on brewing supplies.
